Governor of Texas from 1887-1891 and a Confederate States Army general during the American Civil War. Partly-printed DS, in Ross, signed “L. S.,” one page, 17 x 14, December 26, 1889. Land grant issued to Edward M. House and Captain John Johnson for 640 acres of land. Signed at the conclusion by Ross as Governor of Texas. In very good condition, with partial separations along intersecting folds, a couple of pencil notations, and a uniform shade of mild toning.
