Fine underlever exposed hammers German SxS shotgun built in Braunschweig, Germany by G.L. Rasch, marked in banners on barrel rib. The firm of Rasch had been around since the 17th century and existed until just prior to World War II. 29 1/2" Damascus Steel side by side 12 gauge shotgun barrels equipped with 2 - 3/4" chambers. engraved fitting horn underlever action with horn/engraved steel trigger guard, double triggers. Finely figured checkered walnut pistol straight stock with a shadow line cheekpiece and a horn grip cap and buttplate. Matching checkered walnut forearm. Gun fitted with European style sling swivels. Action retains most of original coin style finish. Beautifully relief engraved with floral scrolls, scenes of game fowl, deer, rabbit, fox, triggerguard has Partridge scene, lock plates have "G.L. Rasch", and Braunschweig" in banners, Bores are very good/bright, needs cleaning, wood is very good/sound with minor scratches/dings, strong mechanics, barrels have turned a gray/brown patina. Barrels are choked "M". LOP is 13 1/2".The high art engraving is a piece of art. Georg Ludwig Rasch was the royal gunmaker to the Dukes of Brunswick which included Friedrich Wilhelm. No way to date this gun as they were wiped out in 1944 by allied bombing, including all the records. NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.
