Highly influential French writer and thinker and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957, his best known works include The Stranger and The Plague. Glossy 3.5 x 5.5 photo of the author casting a downward gaze while smoking a cigarette, signed in fountain pen, “Albert Camus 1958.” In fine condition, with scattered creasing and show-through impressions from a typewritten notation on the reverse. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and transmittal letter (in French) from his secretary. Camus is rare in signed photos. Provenance: The Barry Hoffman Collection.
