<B>1971 California Angels Game Worn Jersey Attributed to Nolan Ryan.</B></I> While impossible to state definitively, the overwhelming evidence points to this road grey flannel being the very first worn by the career Strike Out King as a member of the Angels. While number "30" was issued to Fred Lasher in 1971, whose service to the club consisted of two games that season, it is well established that hand-me-downs were still very common in the big leagues at this time, and a Nolan Ryan video (included in this lot) captures the Hall of Famer at work during Spring Training wearing this exact style jersey, with the name removed from the back as it is here. It would certainly stand to reason that he was wearing a used jersey at this time, as regular season shirts were typically only issued after Spring Training cuts were made. "Angels 30" is sewn to chest in navy and red tackle twill, with number "30" repeated on verso. "McAuliffe" tail labeling features "71" year tag and "44" size tag in tail. Strong wear suggests a second life in the minors after Ryan finished with the jersey. A fantastic display piece at the very least, though we believe it is much more than that. <I>LOA from MEARS.
